Sunday Funday brought to you on Monday

It’s been awhile! We spent last week at the lake where we don’t have wifi; so posting didn’t happen, but we had an excellent time! It was quite relaxing, and it was hard to want to come home! (also, the break from the mudroom was much needed…hopefully an update on that next week)

Today, we decided to put off work on the mudroom to have a Sunday Funday with the kids. It was a gorgeous day, so we decided to head to downtown Indy to have lunch and walk around. I’ve also been wanting to see the neighborhood where Good Bones on HGTV is filmed. So here is what we did and some of the things that caught our eyes:

First, we had lunch at The Eagle on Mass Ave. I was voting for one of my favorites Bakersfield ; but The Eagle is owned by the same people, and I’m glad we tried it. The fried chicken (their specialty) was delicious and so were all of the sides! The atmosphere was great, but I was too busy enjoying my food to take any pictures. Check out their website!

After lunch we visited some stores on the same street.

An interesting take on barn lights at Mass Ave Toys. Parker actually noticed these hanging from the ceiling rather than hanging from a wall like usual. I think its fun and unique. The kids love this place.

Our Corner of the World Blog | Letters to My Baby at Silver in the City on Mass Ave. Indianapolis
This would be a great gift at a baby shower / when baby arrives. It’s basically 12 envelopes bound in the book. Each envelope has a topic, and you seal a letter on that topic in the envelope. I like something like this even more than a baby book. I used a journal for my 2nd instead of a traditional baby book. Baby books stress me out. I look at Annley’s book and feel guilty that I didn’t record the first time she ate with a spoon. I got all the major milestones in there (rolling over, crawling, walking, etc.), but there are so many little details that you don’t realize you “should” record until its too late. All this to say, I love this option. (And after looking for it on their website I see they also have letters to parents, grandparents, future self, etc.) At Silver in the City.
Our Corner of the World Blog | People for Urban Progress clutches at Silver in the City
These clutches (there are also larger purses and bags) are made by People for Urban Progress and are carried at Silver in the City. If you can’t see on the sign, they are made from the roof of the RCA Dome and Super Bowl banners. I’ve had my eye on these for a couple of years and must buy one at some point. Please check out their website. It’s a very cool not-for-profit.
Our Corner of the World Blog | Recycled Sari baby blankets at Global Gifts
These were amazing. If we have another child, I will be purchasing one of these. They are blankets made in India from recycled Sari. They were ridiculously soft and beautiful. These are from Global Gifts where everything is fair trade. They have tons of cool stuff, and you feel good about buying it. Check out their website!!

After a little shopping (really just looking), we drove a few blocks to Fountain Square. I was hoping to spot some of the houses from Good Bones, but we didn’t find any before the kids started getting antsy. However, we did see several new/redone houses. Here are some that we got decent pictures of:

This is one of my favorites that we saw. I love the colors and the blue detail on the front. So charming!

I love the big covered front porch on this one!

I like that this neighborhood has modern houses and traditional houses intermixed. I also love all of the colors!

I definitely want to head back to check out more of the neighborhood! It is definitely a big mix right now. Several fixed up houses, but there are also a lot of houses that could use a lot of help. I’m excited to watch the second season of Good Bones to see if we caught any sneak peaks. There was a two story white one that was awesome, but it was on my side of the car and a car was behind us, so Parker couldn’t snag a pic. Anybody else have a Sunday Funday? Sundays are such a treat in the summer because they are often stressful during the school year!
