Surprise! – we painted again!

We did some more painting in the mudroom…not the walls, though! Those are perfect. We painted the ceiling Sherwin Williams Iron Ore. That was the darker color that we were thinking about for the walls. When we decided to go all white, this was the perfect solution for still getting to use the dark colors I liked. I was slightly nervous about painting the ceiling for a couple of reasons. First, the room looked so great and bright when it was painted white that I didn’t want to make it feel darker in there. Second, our ceilings are textured. Its not a terrible texture. We paid extra for the builder to do the “knock down” ceiling treatment. Basically, they put the texture on and then knock it down so that the texture is flatter. Luckily, I think the dark ceiling turned out amazing! The room does not look dark at all and the texture is not very noticeable. We used flat paint on the ceiling, which helps the texture disappear. I was in love with the room when it was all white, but now I love it even more!

before and after

Its safe to say I am in love with this room. I can’t wait until we can use it! Here is what we have left to do:

  1. Clean up the edge where black meets white. The blue tape didn’t do a perfect job.
  2. Remove floor covering
  3. Hang cabinet doors
  4. Hang lights
  5. Hang hooks inside locker and above bench
  6. Move the desk in (also buy protective glass)
  7. Accessorize desk and shelf above bench
  8. Buy a desk chair (might not do this right away)
  9. Find and hang a window covering (might not do this right away)

More updates coming soon!! If you want to remember where we started, check here.

    1. Thanks! I am obsessed. I keep getting like butterflies about the room…is that weird?!? Maybe 🙂

  2. Some things are just definitely worth all of the hassles and the wait you’ve had to go through! Anxiously awaiting the big reveal of the completed project!! (Even though I’m there everyday)!???
