Lake Houses of Indiana

So, I think I might make this a semi-regular feature during the summer months on the blog. I grew up going to lakes. My dad had a friend with a lake cottage, and then my grandmother moved to a lake when I was in 4th grade. We have spent a great deal of time there over the years. There is nothing better. There is beautiful nature, sunsets, stars, bonfires, swimming, cruising on the boat, skiing, tubing, the sandbar where lots of boats gather and party the day away, and uninterrupted family time. One of my most favorite things is cruising in the boat and looking at houses. We also like to take walks and look at houses on other lakes (there are supposedly 101 lakes in Northeast Indiana).

Today I am going to feature a few houses that I caught with my phone when we were cruising a few weeks ago. In the future, I might take my actual camera.

Its all about the location on this one! The setting could not be more gorgeous. This house is on the tip of a peninsula, so there is water on 3 sides.

These two are also on the peninsula. There is great swimming water right here, and the houses have space and “curb” appeal. I love the gray house with the yellow umbrellas – feels so lakey.

Another house on the peninsula. I like the red color on this one because it makes it stand out but. Great location, great trees, great lake front swimming.

I love the size of this one. A lake house is meant to be shared and enjoyed. There is plenty of room for lots of people here! I also like the color, the deck, and the covered patio on the bottom floor.

I love everything except the IU flag in this one 🙂 I LOVE the covered deck areas. It would be great to be able to be outside even if it were raining (or to be shielded from the sun a bit if you won the genetic lottery like me and ended up being the only one in your family who burns to a crisp 🙂 ). I love the architecture of this house, and it looks like they even have a convenient garage for lake toys right by the water.

Which one is your favorite? My dream house would be on a lake. Where would yours be?

  1. My happiest place on earth is by a lake!! Thanks for sharing these cool houses! I think you make a great point about the house with the covered decks–fun rain or shine.
